Abu Dhabi urges public to keep beaches clean

ABU DHABI // Beachgoers are being asked not to pollute Abu Dhabi's shores after the municipality cleared hundreds of kilograms of waste on East Al Qurm beach.

Plastic bags, metal and plastic cans and other waste items were collected by 50 people as part of a joint campaign between Abu Dhabi Municipality, the Centre of Waste Management (Tadweer) and Yas Viceroy Hotel.

The initiative aims to provide clean and healthy shores throughout the capital while preserving the marine environment surrounding the island.

The municipality is hoping to use the campaign to raise public awareness of the environmental damage caused to the shoreline by the waste, as well as instill positive habits among residents.

All members of the public visiting local beaches are being urged to follow the municipality's rules and regulations, which are designed to protect the local habitat while maintaining its appearance.
