Ministry of Interior employee to compete in US Spartan Race

DUBAI // A Ministry of Interior employee has qualified to compete in the United States after finishing in fifth at the Spartan Race Dubai.

Rashid Butti Al Qubaisi, a former national athlete and Ministry of Interior employee, will compete in the Spartan sprint in the US.

He qualified among 5,000 contestants from different age categories representing 21 countries, the Ministry of Interior said.

The race is considered one of the most gruelling and requires high fitness levels in all of its three phases, which include a 30-kilometre run with obstacles.

This year's Spartan Race Dubai took place last month and included a 13km route with 30 obstacles and a 5km route with 20.

Junior competitors could participate in a 1.8km race with 12 obstacles.
