Channel 4, Ikea and Nike: The top 10 YouTube ads in July

1. Max Factor – Be More You: The Power of Glamour

It’s fair to say Max Factor is famous for its high-end adverts showing the latest ‘it model’ strutting their stuff. However, the brand has decided to go down a more emotional route. For ‘Be More You’, the ad shows a young mum pursuing her dream as a singer (all while wearing Max Factor make-up, of course). The brand’s different direction has certainly paid off – the video racked up over one million views in July.

2. Jaguar UK: Feel Wimbledon with Andy Murray

Wimbledon is one of the UK’s most renowned annual sporting events and for 2016 sponsor Jaguar had hoped to win consumers’ hearts and minds with a high-tech “360 degree immersive” campaign. It allows viewers to explore the Wimbledon grounds, accompanied by some emotional music and Andy Murray’s dulcet tones.

3. Channel 4 – We’re the Superhumans (Rio Paralympics 2016)

Channel 4’s advert for the 2012 London Paralympics went down a storm, picking up multiple industry awards. Four years later, the brand has launched the second iteration of its ‘Superhumans’ campaign for the Rio Paralympic Games. While the 2012 campaign aimed to put the Paralympics on the map and make people understand it “is not a cousin event to the Olympic Games”, this time around the broadcaster is keen to celebrate disabled people on an even wider scale.

4. Ikea – Cooks #Makemorethanjustfood

Falling just outside of the top three is Ikea. Its latest shows a grandfather overwhelmed by the prospect of having to make lunch for his granddaughter, with the other women in the household MIA. Surprise surprise, it turns out to not be as difficult as he initially expected.

5. Sky Sports: Sky Sports’ Biggest Ever Season

Most advertisers know – put David Beckham in your ad and you shall engage the masses. Sky Sports was keen to follow this mantra in its latest campaign promoting the upcoming Premier League season. It shows the ex-Manchester United footballer going for a run while magically managing to tour the UK in less than 60 seconds.

6. Just Eat – Manband

7. Lloyds Bank – For Your Next Step

8. Specsavers – Little Click

9. OnePlus – A day’s power in half an hour
